I didn’t kiss a pig!
We are home. The trip to PV was wonderful. I was amazed at how beautiful our resort was and equally amazed at how few people there were staying there. Now, why would I be amazed……… With all the swine flu crap going on I thought that the numbers of travelers would be less but what we saw was almost scarey. The airport was virtually empty. The resort we stayed in was only 30% occupancy. Resort after resort were closed down. At night the beach was dark because the closed resorts were completely dark. It was surreal.
So much for the bad vibes, now for the good stuff. Here is a photo of the view that greeted us.

This ain’t Oklahoma!
I got to snorkel for the first time in my life. It was great. Coach and I took the plunge and had an incredible time. We road a boat 27 miles out to an island and the snorkeling was awesome. I had a little trouble taking that first breath with my face in the water but once I got comfortable with that then things went great. The only thing that put a cloud over the day was the fact that several of us got stung by little jellyfish. OUCH! It hurt like a bee sting and caused whelps on my arms.
The highlight of my last day on the beach was the huge turtle that decided it was time to lay a few eggs and so she joined us on the beach…..the only inhabited beach in the area…..and we got to watch a really amazing event.

She got a little tangled in the rope but some good samaritans lifted the rope up and let her finish and then scoot back into the Pacific.
It was a great 4 days and we relaxed, drank a few margaritas, and enjoyed meeting some new friends. I could have used a few more days but on the way back to the airport I saw a couple of pigs and was reminded that the country is nearly shut down because of the swine flu scare and thought that maybe we should just get back to the good old US of A. Home – Sweet – Home
Just a couple of random photos -

We look like a bunch of little kids with water wings.

I’m glad you’re back in the USA and didn’t kiss any pigs. I think resorts everywhere are experiencing low numbers due to the economy & swine flu. Sad how many people this is affecting who depend on this industry for their living.
On another note, Dad seems to be in a better mood and is actually speaking to me. I’ve still had to do all the calling but that’s o.k.
love you!
Yesterday he told me they were going to Arizona and today he told me Jim & Ann were coming here. I asked about Arizona and he acted like he didn’t know what I was talking about. He is in a good mood though and that’s good.
Love you too!
I love the pics – you two are such a cute couple! What a wonderful vacation – and who cares about a little swine flu anyway? Plus it wasn’t crowded – I’m glad you had such a good time! Reminds me of the time when we lived in Europe and we visited this absolutely 5 star gorgeous hotel in the Netherlands and both of us came home with lice of all things. Apparently they didn’t use hot water to wash their sheets – ick. You just never know. Hugs!
EEWWWWW GROSS!
Well aside from the jellyfish, looks like a fabulous vacation. Beautiful pics, and that view from the hotel out to the ocean makes me want to call up for my plane ticket. Man, I need a vacation. Until then, I’ll live vicariously through my blogging buddies’ pictures.
It WAS a good vacation and a much needed one. I’m ready for the mountains of Colorado now.
How beautiful! And how fun! I am glad that you and your husband had this opportunity to get away from home and enjoy such beauty and relaxation. The snorkeling sounds great…I have never done it myself but would love to….maybe someday. You are right, you all look like you have those water wings on…lol. What a great picture of you and your husband!
Thanks! I would love to snorkel on some coral reef somewhere and see all the beautiful underwater life.
I snorkeled in Jamaica for the first time about 2 years ago and it was so cool I want to do it again. They didn’t give us the cool water wings though dangit!
Glad you are back!
Those cool water wings were actually the old fashion life jackets that they showed us how to put on kinda backwards. It worked great though by letting our heads stay in the water and keeping our bellies afloat.
How awesome, I’m so glad you were able to get away for a really nice vacation – I’ve been to PV also. Great resorts there. I sure wouldn’t mind it being rather empty, nice to have so much to yourselves. I really love snorkeling too! It always takes me a few minutes to adjust (I hyperventilate at first) but once I’m used to it, it feels like another world under the water!
I’ve always wanted to scuba dive but never had the opportunity. Now I don’t know that I could actually go that far under and be comfortable. It was beautiful though.
Such a nice pic of the two of you with the ocean behind… Makes me want to take a coastal vacation somewhere.
